Back in the late '90s, I was immersed in terrible depression; it lasted for years. I probably needed professional help at the time, but I was able to work through it on my own. One of the things I did that I found to be very therapeutic was to write my life's story. I concentrated for days on dredging up old and forgotten memories about people, places and things I had encountered during life, and wrote them down in a notebook. Once I was satisfied that I had enough information, I began writing my story. The experience was wonderful! The more I wrote, the more I felt I knew who I am. I discovered myself. The ancient Oracle of Delphi had an inscription written: "Know Thyself". Writing my story helped me to accomplish that effort.
I find that creating websites can be basically the same thing; it's a review of one's life ... one's values. This is the third website I have created: The first was a geocities collection of web pages called High Desert Pirate. Geocities has since been deleted by Yahoo. The second website was motivated by my love for Las Vegas, NV: www.neonparadise.net. And now, there's this website--which will pull a little material from the old Desert Pirate; mix in vacation and travel pictures while weaving bits and pieces of my life into the fabric; and borrowing some from my unpublished book. I hope you enjoy looking at my personal website. Please sign the guestbook!
