Roswell

Located at Main and 2nd in Roswell--this Coke machine is famous.

Here I am with a new alien friend; Thanksgiving Day in 2007.

The lamposts in downtown Roswell look like alien heads and light up green!

City of Roswell banners touting that flying saucers make for good tourism.

The Roswell International UFO museum on Main St.

The International UFO Museum took up residence in an old theater.  There used to be two museums in town, but one closed and now there's only one.  A new home is to be built for the museum on a lot across from the "flying saucer" McDonald's.

The UFO Museum is open from 10 to 5 daily.  Admission is $5.00.

A radio station mock-up such as would have been found in 1947.  Radio stations KGFL and KSWS figure prominently in the Roswell Crash story regarding interviews of witnesses and press-releases that helped alert the world to the alleged flying saucer crash.

An old teletype machine in the foreground.  I worked with equipment almost this old at some of the smaller and more rural radio stations during my career as a disc jockey and news reporter.

On July 4, 2010, Gil, Robyn and I attended the UFO Festival in Roswell.   It was such a surprise to discover Adrienne Barbeau (one of my favorite actresses) attending the festival as a guest celebrity!  For more photos taken during the festival, visit the Roswell UFO Festival page.  I wonder if Raquel Welch will be a celebrity guest next year???

Arby's does not discriminate in Roswell.

The Alien Zone II on Main St. in Roswell.  All the hoopla about crashed flying saucers and dead aliens recovered began in July, 1947 when something crashed near Corona, NM and the U.S. Army announced it had recovered a flying saucer.  A few minutes later, the Army retracted the story.  Roswell has never been the same since.

The flying saucer McDonald's.

Another view of the flying saucer McDonald's.  The new UFO Museum is supposed to be built on a dirt lot across the street.

Downtown Roswell--the culture on Main St is definitely Zeta Reticulan.

I'm standing at the corner of Main and 2nd with the UFO Museum in the background.

More shops with alien and flying saucer motif.

Even the pawn shops and payday loans places are alien-crazy!  Space aliens are good business in Roswell.  Here is Robyn spending her Thanksgiving on a cold afternoon in downtown UFO Central.

Vernon in front of a shop with alien cut-outs that look like they've been working out!

Follow the little green foot prints on the sidewalk at Main St. and 2nd.

Looking down 2nd Street.

Even the Roswell Walmart is decorated for an alien encounter.
