Lincoln

Lincoln, NM--center of the Lincoln County War and Billy the Kid.  Lincoln is 57-miles west of Roswell.

The Murphy-Dolan Store--one side of a merchant feud which ignited the Lincoln County War.  The store was owned by Lawrence Murphy and James Dolan.  Billy the Kid was a hired-guard for the other faction, John Tunstall (an English cattle-rancher) and Alexander McSween, a prominent lawyer.

The Last Escape of Billy the Kid is performed every August in Lincoln.
