Embudo Trail

The view of Albuquerque from the foothills of the Sandia Mountains--part of Albuquerque's Open Space.

On the Embudo Trail.  June 8, 2008.

Just a reminder that we are in a wilderness area--people have been attacked by mountain lions and bears in the region!  And we're only about a mile or so in on the trail from a housing tract!

My hiking partner, Rene, with her dog, Tristan.

For me, a pleasant surprise--about a mile and a half in, we came upon a nice little oasis!

Rene wanting to know if I'm ready to hop over the little creek--the dogs really appreciated the drink of water--it was hot.

 Rene trudging onward.

A little trickle of a waterfall.

Rene resting after the hike at a picnic bench.  Albuquerque is in the background.

This is a view of the area where the trailhead is located--at the end of Copper Ave.

Half-million dollar homes (or more!) built near the trailhead.
